Our story

Hi there!

My name is Zita and scentwork has changed the way I see dogs.

A huge part of that is thanks to Asha.

Asha had a rough start as a stray, and we've navigated more challenges together than I ever expected. Scentwork has been our anchor through much of it. We started training during a time when she could barely walk due to serious back problems. Years later, after a fungal infection that nearly killed her, she now has only one properly functioning nostril.

And yet she keeps going. She keeps progressing. She keeps teaching me how essential sniffing is.

Training with Asha has taught me an enormous amount about what it really means to work with the dog in front of you. About patience, creativity and resilience. About noticing the small things, adapting when something isn't working, and recognising just how much progress can happen when you stop rushing towards the next goal.

Now there's BertBert too, beginning her own journey from the very start. Having one dog in her senior years and another just setting out has made me appreciate even more that there isn't one version of progress, or one path that every dog needs to follow.

The Scentwork Badge Club has been living in my head for a long time. As an instructor, I work with dogs of all different ages, breeds, abilities, personalities and goals, and I wanted to create something that celebrated the journey rather than just the end result.

Something that gave us reasons to try new things. To notice the little improvements. To reflect on what our dogs are telling us. And, importantly, to celebrate the things we've worked hard to achieve together.

That's what inspired the Scentwork Badge Club.

The badges are a fun reward, but what they represent is much more important: the training, problem-solving, discoveries and little moments of teamwork that happened along the way.

Whether your dog is taking their very first sniff into scentwork, working towards competition goals, adapting to what their body can do, or simply happiest exploring the world with their nose, I hope the Badge Club gives you plenty of reasons to keep learning about them.

And plenty of adventures to have together. 🐾
